Dad 'terrified' as farm bug puts son in hospital
The family of a four-year-old boy who contracted cryptosporidium at a petting zoo have described their "terrifying experience" of seeing him in hospital.
Gareth Carpenter, of Bridgend, said their son Michael visited a farm shop on 11 April with his grandmother while they packed for a family holiday.
Michael is among 74 cases of cryptosporidium linked to visits to Marlborough Grange Farm in Cowbridge, Vale of Glamorgan, during April.
Cryptosporidium is a parasite, often linked to contact with young farm animals, that can infect your bowels and cause an unpleasant and sometimes dangerous illness.
