A trial to reduce congestion on a busy road junction in Saltash will start later this month, Cornwall Council has said.

The six-month scheme follows complaints about an increase in traffic after a retail development opened on Gilston Road in 2019.

The council said the trial, which starts on 28 January, was "in response to concerns from the local community about congestion and safety on Gilston Road".

It said it would continue to assess traffic movements and the level of public support for making the changes permanent.

Temporary signage

Vehicles will be restricted from turning right at the Gilston Road junction into the B3271 Callington Road, the council said.

Motorists will be able to use the Pillmere roundabout instead.

The council said temporary signs would be in place urging drivers heading toward the A38 west to use Burraton Road.
