A railway line between Surrey and Berkshire will close for a week so that Network Rail can complete track upgrades.

From 22 March to 28 March, South Western Railway (SWR) services will not run between Staines and Windsor & Eton Riverside, Network Rail said.

It added on 22 March there would be no SWR services between Hounslow and Virginia Water and no services on 23 March between Hounslow and Ascot/Woking.

During the line closure, 800 yards of track will be laid on the Black Potts Railway Bridge, which runs over the River Thames.

Network Rail said this included removing old rails and sleepers from the site and installing new track.

During the closure, there will be no services at the following stations: Wraysbury, Sunnymeads, Datchet and Windsor & Eton Riverside.

SWR Services that usually run between London Waterloo and Windsor & Eton Riverside will instead terminate at Staines.

Passengers can use the journey planner on the SWR website to see how their journey will be affected.
