A plan to bring an ice rink and other winter attractions to Windsor has been pulled, shortly before it was due to be discussed by councillors.

The application to bring the temporary rink, 14 rides and other festive attractions to Alexandra Gardens between November and January was due to be discussed at a council meeting on Thursday.

But operator Windsor on Ice withdrew the proposal, which Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead planning officers had already said should not get planning permission.

Planners said it would have harmed the views of Windsor Castle and Windsor's town centre.

Since 2016, an ice rink and various festive attractions and rides have been granted temporary planning permission over the winter months.

It remains unclear if an amended plan will be submitted later.
