A derelict property has been "severely damaged" following a fire.

Five fire engines were called to Churchill Way in Northam, near Bideford, in Devon, at about 20:10 GMT on Saturday with crews working to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby buildings.

Local residents were advised to keep their windows and doors closed due to smoke and "low levels of asbestos" in the abandoned building.

Crews revisited the site at about 07:10 GMT on Sunday and a spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said it is investigating the cause of the blaze.
