A man has been arrested on suspicion of raping another man in a park in Plymouth.

Devon and Cornwall Police issued an appeal following the sexual assault in Devonport Park at about 00:45 GMT on Monday.

A 34-year old man from Plymouth remains in police custody after being arrested on suspicion of rape.

A "scene guard" was in place at the park while investigators collected information but has since been lifted. The force said the victim was being supported by specially trained officers.

On Monday, officers put out an appeal and said it had been reported that a man had "entered a vehicle and was driven to the park".

"The victim and suspect, who are not known to each other, then exited the vehicle together before the victim was attacked at the park band stand."

The suspect then left the scene, they said.

Police appealed to any witnesses, or anybody who might have relevant dash-cam or CCTV footage to get in touch.
