An HGV driver has been arrested after a crash that killed a 21-year-old man on a motorway.

The lorry and two other vehicles were involved in the collision on the M11 in Essex at about 14:30 BST on Monday.

The road was closed between the junctions for Stansted Airport and Harlow for almost 12 hours.

The 57-year-old HGV driver was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and causing injury by careless driving.

Essex Police said the victim was the driver of one of the cars and that his family was being supported by officers.

Another man was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The lorry overturned during the incident.

The force asked anyone with information or dashcam footage to come forward and help it with inquiries.

The suspect was released on police bail.
