Boy in 'life-threatening' condition after chase

A 17-year-old boy remains in hospital with "life-threatening injuries" after being involved in a police chase.
Durham Police said the crash happened after officers responded to reports of a stolen vehicle in the Woodham area of Newton Aycliffe on Monday, at about 03:00 GMT.
It said officers spotted a black Ford Mondeo carrying six people on the A167 near Beaumont Hill, and it failed to stop.
As police pursued the Ford, it crashed into a fence at the junction with St Cuthberts Way, the force said.
The other five occupants were not seriously injured, the force said.
The boy is currently at James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough, in a "life-threatening condition".
The car's occupants had all been arrested on suspicion of burglary, dangerous driving and failing to stop, police said, and had since been released under investigation with strict curfews.
Durham Police said it was appealing for witnesses or footage concerning suspicious activity in the Pemberton Road area of Woodham Village in the early hours of Monday.
It said it was also "particularly interested" in any footage linked to a black Ford Mondeo and a black Ford Fiesta in the hours prior to the crash.
