Polls in a by-election in Alderney have opened, giving islanders the chance to elect two new politicians.

Voting for two of the 10 seats in the States of Alderney is taking place at the Island Hall between 09:30 GMT and 18:30 GMT.

The by-election was called to fill two vacant seats following the resignation of two island politicians.

The candidates in the by-election will be Haydn Bateman, Jeannie Cameron, Lin Maurice and Veronica Taylor.

Nominations opened on 14 February and closed at 16:00 on 21 February.

Nigel Vooght, formerly the island's most senior politician, resigned in December and States member Bruce Woodhead quit in January.
