New politicians have been appointed after a States of Alderney by-election.

Jeannie Cameron and Veronica Taylor have been duly elected to serve as members of the States of Alderney until 31 December 2026.

The by-election was called to fill two vacant seats following the resignation of two island politicians.

Ms Cameron received 501 votes, while Ms Taylor received 344 votes, in an election which saw a turnout of 49%.

Nigel Vooght, formerly the island's most senior politician, resigned in December and States member Bruce Woodhead quit in January.
