Surgeries recognised for care of military veterans
A group of GP practices in East Yorkshire has been accredited as "veteran-friendly".
It means the practices in Bridlington, Market Weighton and Cottingham, near Hull, are recognised as delivering a high standard of care to patients who served in the armed forces.
Issues specifically related to former military personnel include hearing loss, PTSD and difficulty making the transition to civilian life, as well as injuries sustained in action.
The three practices – Humber Primary Care in Bridlington, King Street Medical Centre in Cottingham and Market Weighton Group Practice – are run by Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust.
"If you are a veteran or know someone who may benefit from our veteran-friendly services, please do not hesitate to reach out to us," said the trust's Matthew Handley.
"Together, we can make a difference to the health and wellbeing of those who have bravely served our country."
Armed forces veterans registered at the practices are being encouraged to inform their doctors of their former military service.
