Puffins, castles and sunrises are among the spectacular subjects of some of our favourite pictures shared with us in 2024.

Our BBC North East and Cumbria Instagram page aims to celebrate the quirks and beauty of the region and we love to see the incredible images produced by our local amateur and professional photographers.

We saw some tremendous displays of the Northern Lights throughout the year as well as stunning views of our most familiar and much-loved landmarks.
