A residential care home has been rated as outstanding by The Care Quality Commission (CQC) for the second consecutive time.

Manor Lodge in Chelmsford provides accommodation for people who require nursing or personal care.

Hazel Roberts, CQC deputy director of operations in the East of England, said the care home "should be extremely proud of the high-quality care they're providing to people and their loved ones".

The inspection came after concerns were received about the safety of people living at the service run by Care UK Community Partnerships Ltd.

The CQC identified no concerns during the assessment, which was carried out in October.

Ms Roberts added: "We found a care home with a strong commitment to delivering person-centred care that often exceeds the needs of the people they support.

"Staff work hard to ensure people live with dignity and enjoy fulfilling lives, with families describing the home as warm, welcoming and attentive."

Ms Roberts praised the home's "proactive approach" to helping people regain independence.

"Their on-site physiotherapy team supported a person who had been unable to walk upon arrival. With regular support and encouragement, they were able to walk again and return home safely," she recalled.

Ms Roberts urged other care providers to look at the Manor Lodge CQC report to see "if there's anything they can learn".
