Three arrested after fire on 'suspicious' boat

Three men have been arrested on suspicion of drug offences after their vessel caught fire and was intercepted by Border Force officers.

The "suspicious" boat caught fire while it was offshore from the Barbican in Plymouth on Tuesday.

A spokesperson for the National Crime Agency (NCA) said: "Our Border Force Maritime officers successfully intercepted a suspicious vessel offshore, where they tackled a blaze on board and rescued three members of crew."

An NCA spokesperson added: "Three men were arrested on suspicion of drugs offences and later bailed after Border Force officers intercepted a vessel near Plymouth."

The NCA spokesperson said the investigation was in the early stages.
