A 17-year-old has been charged with possessing a crossbow and a knife after being stopped by officers in a Wolverhampton park.

He was apprehended in Fowler's Park in Park Village on Sunday afternoon, West Midlands Police said.

Officers were on patrol in the area as part of Project Guardian Taskforce, which focuses on tackling knife crime and youth violence, the force said.

The teenager, who was also charged with drugs offences, has been released on bail to appear at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court on 7 May.
