An empty building in a West Yorkshire market town could be transformed into an apartment hotel and tearooms if new plans are given the go-ahead.

Developers said they wanted to create a 12-bed short-stay venue on Park Road in Bingley, opposite the town's railway station.

The venture would be built within a building which had been vacant for several years, according to planning documents.

The property was initially built more than 100 years ago as offices for the Bingley Building Society, the applicants said.

It had since also been used as a taxi office and as a base for a firm of solicitors.

Under the plans, part of the basement would be converted into space for staff accommodation.

The proposed tearooms would "double up as a breakfast room for guests", the application said.
