Mum has 'nothing to lose' by saving baby's stem cells
A Newport mum who decided to save her newborn son's umbilical cord stem cells has said there is "absolutely nothing to lose" by having that "back-up".
Natalie Harrop was inspired to research blood cancer treatments after her friend Jacqueline died from leukaemia.
She discovered the umbilical cord and placenta contain stem cells, which are usually discarded, but can be harvested and saved in case they are needed in the future.
