Driver banned after near miss with cyclist
A dangerous driver has been banned from the roads after he narrowly missed a cyclist, Lincolnshire Police said.
Shad Ahmadi, 29, of Kirkstall, Peterborough, drove over the speed limit through two red lights and a no entry sign, nearly hitting a cyclist and lamp post in Spalding on the evening of 28 May.
He pleaded guilty on 30 May to dangerous driving, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence, driving without insurance and failing to stop.
Ahmadi was sentenced to six months in prison, suspended for two years and banned from driving for three years at Boston Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.
Ahmadi eventually pulled into a supermarket car park during the police pursuit where he stopped his car and ran from the vehicle with his passenger.
An officer closely followed him and he was subsequently arrested.
A quantity of cigarettes believed to be counterfeit found in the boot of the car were handed to Trading Standards.
