Model engineering society celebrates 90 years

A group of model engineers is hoping to attract a new generation of enthusiasts as they celebrate their 90th anniversary.

The Grimsby and Cleethorpes Model Engineering Society was founded in 1935 by three men, Henry Hartley, Sidney Well and Mr Scrimshaw.

It now has 80 volunteers who run and maintain a miniature railway in the grounds of Waltham Windmill.

The site has been their home since the mid-1980s and includes several loops of track, a signal box, tunnel and a number of stations.

The group are planning an open weekend on 12 and 13 July offering free rides and are hoping to attract future engineers.
