A man has been charged with murdering a woman found dead in her flat.

The body of Caroline Gore, 44, was discovered by police called to the home in Douglas House, Wigan, on Monday.

Paying tribute to her, Ms Gore's family said she was "a dearly-loved mum, daughter and sister" and they were left "heartbroken".

David Liptrot, 56, of Shelley Avenue, Coppull, has been remanded in custody to appear before Manchester magistrates on Friday, police said.

The precise cause of Ms Gore's death has not been revealed.
