Network Rail is introducing speed restrictions and a revised timetable for Monday and Tuesday.

Thameslink apologises to customers for the "difficult and uncomfortable experience".

Several problems with signals mean several lines, including the Gatwick Express, have been suspended.

Train services have been disrupted but have since returned to normal, Thameslink says.

The funding for the upgrades has been provided by the Department for Transport.

The changes will support the late night economy as the summer season begins.

Habitats have been installed in Horley in Surrey and Glynde, Plumpton and Berwick in East Sussex.

The obstruction has been reported on the tracks between Redhill and Purley.
