A description of the slave trader as a Bristol "benefactor" is removed in the new version.

The plaque is intended for the plinth where the Bristol slave trader's statue was toppled in 2020.

Councillors say the text to be put on the plinth of the slave trader statue is still "unacceptable".

The statue of Edward Colston in Bristol was toppled by protesters in 2020, leaving the plinth empty.

It's the first time this century that this has happened, according to charity Art UK.

The toppled Edward Colston statue has been out of the public view since January 2022.

The University of Bristol has replaced Edward Colston's dolphin symbol with a book.

Council members are yet to decide on wording for a new plaque where the statue once stood.
