Sandwell Council approved an application to build 14 flats on the site in 2007 but the work was never carried out

A block of flats will be built on the site of a former warehouse in Oldbury.

Up to 14 flats will be created on land off Wolverhampton Road after Sandwell Council approved proposals.

A previous application to build 14 flats there was approved in 2007 but the work was never carried out.

Two objections were raised against the latest plan over concerns about the height of the block and a potential loss of privacy and sunlight, but the application stated the height had been "considerably reduced" from past proposals.

A statement included with the application said: "It is felt that this scheme will vastly improve a currently underutilised site to the benefit of the area, improving the street character and promoting a sustainable way of living promoted by better landscape, energy efficiency and connectivity."

The land sits less than a mile from the former Brandhall Golf Course which is set to be turned into a huge new estate.
