Lifeboat crews and coastguards joined forces after a surfer and a swimmer got into difficulty off the Cornwall coast.

Bude RNLI and coastguard team were called to Summerleaze beach to a surfer in difficulty on Sunday and, on arrival, the surfer had "self-rescued" and was safe, said Falmouth Coastguard.

Penlee and Lizard RNLI, Mullion and Porthoustock coastguard rescue teams, along with a coastguard rescue helicopter, were called to a swimmer in difficulty at Polurrian beach, near Mullion.

The swimmer was recovered and passed into the care of the ambulance service.
