Tonnes of waste dumped within yards of tip
Tonnes of rubbish has been dumped on a private lane close to Immingham tip.
Frank Sparkes, 77, who is known for his efforts cleaning up litter in the area, said it was an ongoing issue and called for CCTV to be installed to catch the culprits.
He said the rubbish, which included items such as mattresses, sofas and chairs, had probably been dumped by people "looking to make a quick buck".
North East Lincolnshire Council said it was investigating and was working with the landowner to make clear "their responsibilities".
Mr Sparkes, who has spent more than 25 years cleaning up rubbish in his community, said he was unable to intervene due to the waste being dumped on private land.
"I would love to tackle it, but... it's up to them [the landowners] to sort it out," he said.
"They should have a gate across and a camera, and it would stop all that," he added.
A council spokesperson said: "Fly-tipping is a national problem and we all have a legal obligation, or duty of care, to make sure our waste is disposed of correctly.
"The best way to stop organised fly-tipping is to make sure that only authorised waste carriers take your waste away."
