Mounted volunteers are being sought to help in the fight against rural crime.

Humberside Police said the aim was to provide reassurance to residents and "actively promote crime prevention".

Volunteers will be asked to do a minimum of two hours a week and will patrol the rural communities on the north bank of the Humber Estuary.

Volunteers would be expected to share information and report incidents of concern.

The force said the role would also promote trust and confidence in the police and enhance relationships between them and the community.

Respondents must have a minimum five years' riding experience and access to a suitable horse.

The job description also states that people who apply must be experienced in riding on both highways and in the open countryside, and should be interested in preventing rural, equine and wildlife crime.

Details of how to apply are on the Humberside Police website.
