Potentially harmful 'white lumps' wash up on beach
People in East Sussex have been warned about potentially harmful "white lumps" which have washed up on the shore.
On Thursday, Rother District Council said it was aware of the "waxy substance" in Bexhill and on other beaches nearby.
A council spokesperson said: "This substance may be harmful if ingested, so if visiting the beach do not touch and keep dogs on leads."
The council added it was investigating and would take action as necessary.
Posting on X, it said: "We're aware of a waxy substance in the form of white lumps being washed ashore in Bexhill and neighbouring beaches.
"This substance may be harmful if ingested so if visiting the beach do not touch and keep dogs on leads."
