Free cycle training is on offer for people in Hull.

The City Explorer sessions aim to get more people cycling and boost confidence, Hull City Council said.

Trial events are being held at West Park on Saturday 14 June and East Park on Sunday 15 June as part of Cycling UK's Bike Week 2025.

They include sessions for beginners and a guided cycling experience around the city.

The training will be delivered by qualified instructors from the council's contractor, First Step Cycle.

Councillor Mark Ieronimo, cabinet portfolio holder for transport and infrastructure at the authority, said he was delighted to be trialling the scheme during Bike Week which he described as "the UK's biggest celebration of cycling".

"Those attending these initial sessions will help us shape the kind of experience that people will find most useful in supporting them to choose cycling, whether it be for leisure, to run local errands or for their daily commute," he said.

Sessions include riding over varied terrain as well as practical road cycling skills in real city environments.
