New music venue added to Guernsey cultural centre

A "unique" new music venue is being opened in a Guernsey cultural centre.
St James, in St Peter Port, said the area called The Pit would open on 5 April in the basement of the building.
The 90-capacity area, which has its own bar, would be available as an educational resource, as an under-18s venue and as a performance space that could be rented, St James said.
Bosses at the venue said it would be launched during the Decibel Tower Festival with three local bands performing and "a few surprises".
A St James spokesperson added: "With a capacity of 90, and its own access via the lower wooden staircase, it will be a unique venue to the island."
