In-person event ahead of potential speedway return

An in-person exhibition event is taking place on Saturday as efforts to re-establish speedway in Swindon continue.
Swindon Motorsports Ltd, a joint venture between Swindon Speedway and Gaming International are behind the proposed Studley Grange Motorsports Hub close to the M4.
People can see the full plan and give feedback at the Royal Wootton Bassett Memorial Hall from midday.
The proposals include a new modern multi-use facility for commercial, business and leisure use, including the new track for speedway racing.
The Swindon Robins have been unable to compete at their previous home, Abbey Stadium, since 2020 due to financial issues.
In an attempt to provide extra finance, the plans also include a new karting circuit, a small complex of business units and a multi-use events arena with a capacity of up to 3,000.
Terry Russell, Chairman of Swindon Motorsports and Swindon Speedway is optimistic about the scheme's success:
"After many months of hard work to get us to this stage, I am delighted that we are now going public with our plans for The Studley Grange Motorsports Hub.
"This represents the best and most realistic opportunity to bring speedway back to Swindon, and I encourage all speedway supporters to engage with the consultation and submit your thoughts on our plans.
"I am excited for the future and truly believe that we are on the cusp of securing a long-term viable future for speedway and motorsports in Swindon."
Mr Russell has previously said that the company hopes to submit a planning application to Wiltshire Council in the spring, before having the facility up and running by 2026.
The consultation materials are also available online for those unable to visit in person, with the consultation running until 23 February.
