Arrest after man in his 80s punched by motorcyclist

A 42-year-old man has been arrested after a man in his 80s was punched in the face by a motorcyclist.
Hampshire police said the attack happened at about midday on Friday, while the victim was walking along Cross Street in Newport on the Isle of Wight.
He fell to the floor, suffering injuries to his face, elbow and hand, including bruising and swelling, and was also briefly left unconscious.
A man from Newport was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and has been released on bail.
Insp Adam Henderson-Parish called the incident "shocking".
"Our teams are working extremely hard and carrying out extensive enquiries in a bid to establish the full circumstances of the incident," he said.
He appealed to anyone who had been in the area of Cross Lane, School Lane and Staplers Road at about the time of the assault to get in touch.
