Teenager stabbed in the back in street attack
A teenager has been stabbed in the back in a street attack, police have said.
The 17-year-old boy was attacked on Telegraph Road in Heswall at about 19:45 GMT on Thursday, Merseyside Police said.
The force later said his injuries were not thought to be life-threatening, adding that he had been discharged from hospital.
Detectives are keen to speak to two men who were seen running off towards the Devon Doorway pub.
'Reckless'
They have appealed to anyone who was near the Harry Beswick pub or Marks & Spencer on Telegraph Road, or who saw two men acting suspiciously, to contact them.
Det Insp Peter Rexwinkel said: "The use of knives and any weapons is reckless and will not be tolerated, and can have tragic consequences, not only for the victim and their family but also for the offenders involved.
"There is no place for knives in our communities. I would urge anyone with information to get in touch so we can act on community intelligence or call Crimestoppers anonymously."
