Police have launched a witness appeal into a fire involving a lorry on a new build estate in Nottinghamshire.

Four crews were initially sent to Red Lane in Worksop on Thursday evening before more support was summoned when it spread to multiple outbuildings and trees.

The blaze was brought under control by 19:45 BST and crews have now left the scene.

Officers launched an appeal for information are not "ruling out the possibilty" the fire could've been lit deliberately, although no arrests have been made.

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service has shared photos of the aftermath and said an investigation was due to start into the cause of the "devastating" fire on Friday morning.

Insp Rob Harrison, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "Thankfully this fire didn't lead to any injuries, which is the most important thing, although it did cause extensive damage to property and the area.

"We're currently working with our fire colleagues – who did a fantastic job putting out the blaze – to investigate the cause of this fire and aren't ruling out that it could've been lit deliberately.

"This was a very serious incident that, as I've mentioned, put people at risk of harm, so it's important we're able to quickly get to the bottom of how it originated."
