Dozens of volunteers have helped turn a town pink by sewing metres of bunting and decorations to spruce up the local area.

People across Nailsea will also be wearing pink as they work away to make the decorations which will adorn the high street and Crown Glass Shopping Centre until Mother's Day on 30 March.

It has been set up by the Nowhere FUNdraisers to raise money for Cancer Research UK - and organisers say the community has been eager to help.

"One of the things that has impressed me most is how people are enjoying the fundraising and stopping us to say how fantastic it all is" said Maggie Cannon, chair person at Nowhere FUNdraisers.

"We have 74 shop windows decorated in pink and the streets are lined with pink bunting and covers on all the posts that the Nailsea fire brigade have helped us install.

"It's been such a community event and we're just overwhelmed with the support we've had."

The FUNdraisers say that one of the striking things about organising the fundraiser is how many people in the community have had their lives affected by cancer.

"When you're walking around the town and visiting shops to ask if they want to take part people share their stories with you and that's really heart warming" said Linda Parle, Treasurer at Nowhere FUNdraisers.

As well as shops - a number of local churches, schools and clubs have also been involved.

Flower beds have been specially prepared by Nailsea Horticultural Society and have decorated them with 300 pink bows.

Prizes will be given for the best decorations, best pink window and best fundraising activity.

There will also be a pink themed treasure hunt for children.

The pink decorations will remain up until Mother's Day and the event will close with a special party the day before.
