A man is due to appear in court accused of stabbing two people.

The 27-year-old, who is charged with two counts of assault, is expected to appear at Teesside Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

A man and a woman were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening stab injuries following an incident in Middlesbrough on Monday, Cleveland Police said.

A spokesman for the force said it followed an assault in Morpeth Avenue in the early hours of the morning.

The victims have since been released from hospital.
