Warning to public as crews tackle boatyard fire

Fire crews are currently tackling a fire that had broken out at a boatyard.

The Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service said crews from Southsea, Cosham and Portchester had been alerted to the blaze, which involves "a number boats" on land at a boatyard on Tipner Lane in Portsmouth, Hampshire, at about 16:00 BST.

The fire service said there was "a lot of smoke in the area" and advised nearby residents to close doors and windows.

The public is also advised to avoid the area.
