Stranded drivers rescued in icy conditions
Drivers who had become stranded on a mountain pass because of ice during wintry conditions have been rescued by emergency services.
Six vehicles became stuck on ice on Wrynose Pass in the Lake District at about 13:05 GMT, Cumbria Police said.
They were safely escorted down the single track mountain road, officers said.
Several roads in the area were closed earlier due to icy conditions including Hardknott Pass, Cold Fell and Birker Fell, Cumberland Council added.
The mountain pass lies between the Duddon Valley and Little Langdale.
It comes as the Met Office has issued an amber warning for snow and ice in Cumbria from 21:00 GMT until midnight on Sunday.
