Man and woman, in their 30s, die in car crash

A man and a woman have died in a car crash.

The collision happened on the A66, at Twenty Row, near Workington at about 18:30 BST on Saturday and involved a silver Audi A3 and a black Ford Focus.

The front-seat passenger of the Ford, a woman in her 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The front-seat passenger of the Audi, a man in his 30s, also died at the scene and the driver was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Both drivers are said to be in a stable condition, Cumbria Police said.

The road was closed for several hours on Saturday night.

Police are asking for anyone who saw what happened, or who has dashcam footage, to get in touch.
