Man charged after armed police close city street

Police closed off St Leonard's Street on Saturday morning

A man has been charged in connection with in incident in which a number of flats were evacuated in Edinburgh.

Armed police responded to reports of a disturbance at a block on St Leonard's Street at about 09:00 on Saturday. A 38-year-old woman and a baby were taken to hospital as a precaution.

Police Scotland said specialist officers including firearms officers attended and a 46-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

The man is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday.
