Avon and Somerset Police was called after residents reported hearing shots being fired

A man has been charged after someone was spotted with a gun before a bank window was smashed.

Avon and Somerset Police was called to Yeovil town centre, Somerset, at about 03:30 GMT on Friday, after reports of residents hearing shots being fired.

Alistair Armistead, 28, of Penn Hill, has since been charged with possessing an air weapon, criminal damage in relation to a bank window being smashed, and affray.

He appeared at Yeovil Magistrates' Court on Monday, where he was remanded in custody until his appearance at Taunton Crown Court on 24 March.
