Adoptive parents needed urgently by local agencies
More adoptive parents are urgently needed across the South East.
National Adoption Day on 15 January will see agencies including the Diagrama Foundation, Parents and Children Together (PACT) and Adoption Partnership South East (APSE) highlighting the importance of finding loving adoptive families.
Kay-Lee was adopted before her fifth birthday and told BBC Radio Kent that despite it taking "over a year to feel settled and calm" she now has an "amazing" relationship with her adoptive parents.
She said people who choose to adopt "create an entire new future" for a child and that people should "absolutely do it".
APSE said in October 2024 that it had its lowest number of enquiries in the first half of 2024 since before the pandemic - dropping to 76 from 117 in the first six months of 2019, data obtained by the BBC showed.
