Police said only minor errors on the banknotes marked them out as counterfeit

The use of high-quality forged banknotes in part of Derbyshire has prompted a warning from police.

Officers said a number of counterfeit £20 notes had recently been used in shops and pubs in Little Eaton and surrounding areas.

They described the notes as "of very good quality" with only subtle differences and errors, particularly when comparing the hologram areas, marking them out as fakes.

Anyone with information on the use or production of these items is asked to contact police using non-emergency methods.

Those with information could also contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously, Derbyshire Police added.
