Good Samaritans rescue cyclist after canal fall
A group of people helped a PCSO save the life of a cyclist after he fell into a frozen South Yorkshire canal.
The off-duty officer was in the Forge Island area of Rotherham when she heard shouts for help just before 14:00 GMT on 10 December, South Yorkshire Police said.
The PCSO discovered a group of "good Samaritans" hanging onto the man in the water.
She joined in and helped the man until the emergency services arrived.
The helpers then left the area and police want to get in touch with them to say thank you.
The man was taken to hospital by ambulance and is now recovering.
A police spokesperson said: "It has not gone unnoticed that without the help of those there, the outcome could have been very different."
