Refurbishment project closes road until summer
A city centre road that runs over a Grade II listed structure will be closed for five months while refurbishment work takes place.
Devon County Council said work on Iron Bridge in Exeter started on Monday and would continue until mid-June with a road closure in place between the junctions with Dinham Road and Paul Street.
The council said the renovation work on the bridge built in 1834 would include waterproofing, drainage improvements, resurfacing and making changes to its layout.
It added the road closure would be in place throughout the refurbishment project, including on weekends, with workers expected to be the site from 07:00 to 19:00 GMT on weekdays.
