Park and 'micro-forest' plan for unused land
A park is set to be created on land in south-west London that has lain unused for more than 10 years.
The site, at Oldfield Road Meadow in Hampton, will become a public nature conservation area, Richmond Council said.
The land, which is currently not open to the public, will be developed under plans that include a "micro-forest", play equipment and footpaths.
Pedestrian and vehicle access points will be added, with the eastern part of the area kept free from paths to avoid interfering with wildlife.
The project aims to discourage crime and antisocial behaviour at the site, which has had issues with unauthorised access.
Richmond Council said: "The proposals will align with the key aims of the Corporate Plan, creating a greener borough through enhancements to the nature conservation interest to the site."
