A man in his 20s was taken to hospital with stab wounds and facial injuries

Four people have been arrested after a man was stabbed through the window of his car at a set of traffic lights.

Gloucestershire Police said the victim, a man in his 20s, was able to drive away from the scene at about 17:00 BST on Thursday on Westgate Street, Gloucester, to a nearby garage where he was given first aid.

He was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital for a large cut to his leg, a cut to his chest and facial injuries, and was discharged later the same evening.

A man and woman in their 20s and two teenage boys, all from Gloucester, have been released on bail as inquiries continue.

Armed response arrests

It was reported that the victim was sat in his car, which was stationary at traffic lights near Westgate Island, when a Red Kia pulled up next to him.

Police said the occupants of the car shouted at the victim before a man left the vehicle and lunged through the victim's car window with a knife.

A second man also entered the victim's car through the passenger door, punching him repeatedly in the face.

They then returned to their car, which was being driven by a woman, and fled from the scene.

Following the incident, police control room staff and CCTV operators were able to track the suspects' vehicle to a street in Gloucester city centre.

Four people were then located and detained by armed police at a nearby address, where a police search revealed "a quantity of Class A drugs and drug paraphernalia including scales, phones and zip lock bags".

All four suspects were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply.

Another man, also in his 20s and from Gloucester, was arrested on suspicion of possession of Class B drugs with intent to supply.

Police asked anyone who witnessed the incident, or who had CCTV or dashcam footage, to get in contact.
