Men arrested after 'vicious' pole and Taser attack

Two men have been arrested after a man and a woman were hit with metal poles and a Taser in what police called a "vicious attack" in Cornwall.
The incident happened in Lower Market Street, Penryn, on Tuesday at about 15:45 BST.
The man and woman were taken to hospital with facial and head injuries following what Det Con Richard Haycock of Devon and Cornwall Police called "a violent assault".
Armed officers visited an address in the town where they arrested a man in his 30s from Penryn and a man in his 40s from Newquay on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent.
Det Con Haycock said: "This was a violent assault using weapons that took place in broad daylight in front of people who were going about their day-to-day business.
"It is believed the victims and the suspects were known to each other and, as such, there is no wider threat to the public.
"That said, this was a vicious attack and we are appealing to anybody who may have witnessed the incident, who has not yet spoken to us, to get in touch."
He also asked anyone who may have footage of the incident via their mobile phone or vehicle dash-cam to share it with the force.
