Police name woman killed in one-vehicle crash on A9

A woman who died following a crash on the A9 in the Highlands has been named by police.

Ashleigh Watson, 31, was driving southbound in a Citroen DS3 when she was critically injured near Inshes, Inverness, at about 01:40 on Friday.

Officers said she was pronounced dead at the scene and no other vehicles were involved.

A 35-year-old man was taken to hospital and is being treated for serious injuries.

Sgt Neil MacDonald said: "Our thoughts remain with Ashleigh's family and friends at this difficult time.

"Our investigation into the circumstances is ongoing and I urge anyone who witnessed the crash, or who has any information to contact us."

He also appealed to any drivers with relevant dash cam footage to get in touch.
