A section of the A14 near Ipswich was closed after a "serious" crash, National Highways said.

The A14 westbound was shut earlier between junctions 56 and 55, with emergency services at the scene.

On X, it said this could result in delays of more than 40 minutes.

Shortly after 18:30 GMT it posted to say the road had reopened, but there was still two miles of congestion.
