Planting for new city park to begin

A variety of plants and shrubs will be planted in Bradford's new city centre park next week.
Tree planting has been completed in the extended Norfolk Gardens, which is being developed on the space that was once Hall Ings.
Landscaping work will involve bedding in hundreds of plants and shrubs to add to the biodiversity of the green space.
The council said it hoped the work would be completed in time for the plants to bloom and flourish in the spring.
Work is also progressing at a pocket park that is being developed on the old NCP car park site.
New paving has been installed, extending up to Nelson Street, and street furniture, including benches, is being fitted.
A Bradford Council spokesperson said: "Once complete this area will form a welcoming green space in the heart of the city centre."
The previous government announced funding for the scheme in March 2020 as part of its Transforming Cities Fund, in order to make Bradford more pleasant for pedestrians, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.
